Open position for Lab manager

We are seeking an enthusiastic candidate to join our team and contribute to lab management and organization as well as laboratory research (molecular biology, tissue culture, animal models).

Your profile:

+ M.Sc. or similar degree in biology or related studies.

+ Experience with molecular biology techniques, tissue culture and working with laboratory animals.

+ Experience with lab management

+ Excellent skills in project management, documentation and communication

+ Excellent English skills

+ Working both independently and as a team player

+ The minimal monthly salary is 2.528 EUR (gross, 14x annual) and may increase based on prior experience and other work place-related aspects.

+ The position may be filled as soon as possible and is limited until July 2024. Extension is possible.

The Lab: Prof. Andreas Bergthaler underwent international training in Switzerland, Japan and the USA and is a recognized immunologist and virologist. He is Professor of Molecular Immunology at the Medical University of Vienna ( https://www.meduniwien.ac.at/web/en/ ) and heads the Institute of Hygiene and Applied Immunology ( https://www.meduniwien.ac.at/hp/en/hai/ ) at the Center for Pathophysiology, Infectiology and Immunology. Dr. Bergthaler is also Adjunct Principal Investigator at the CeMM Research Center for Molecular Medicine ( https://cemm.at/ ) of the Austrian Academy of Sciences.

The Bergthaler team consists of 12 members representing 8 nationalities and interdisciplinary backgrounds who closely collaborate across projects. Their research focuses on fundamental questions of viral infections and inflammatory diseases. Examples of recent work include Agerer B et al. Science Immunology 2021, Baazim H et al Nature Reviews Immunology 2021, Popa A et al. Science Translational Medicine 2020, Lercher A et al. Immunity 2019 and Baazim H et al. Nature Immunology 2019.

The Institution: The Medical University of Vienna is one of the world`s leading medical universities. With its long history and tradition, which covers more than 600 years, the university has developed into a highly modern research institution whichemploys a staff of approximately 5,000, of which 1,800 are researchers and 1,600 are medical doctors. The position will be at the Institute of Hygiene and Applied at the Center for Pathophysiology, Infectiology and Immunology of the Medical University of Vienna.
